The New York State Assembly passed the Marriage Equality Act, a bill to legalize same-sex marriage in New York, by a margin of 80 to 63. It was certian to be passed by the state senate after three Democrats and two Republicans who voted against it previously changed their positions and said they would support the legislation. The governor, Andrew Cuomo was sure to sign it into law. NOM reacted with predictable dire warnings about the consequences to society.
