Ersatz socialogist Mark Regenrus, with a heaping helping of right wing
culture war money, produced a study alleging that children raised by gay
parents had worse outcomes than those raised by heterosexual couples. The
journal that published it came under immediate criticism for not following
normal peer review methods, and the study itself for reaching conclusions not
supported by its own data. In fact most of the households Regenrus included
in his study had suffered divorce after one partner came out of the closet.
The exception to this was the only household in it headed by a same sex
couple and even Regenrus concluded their children did well. Established
socialogists pointed out he had simply shown what the field had known for a long
time; that divorce stresses out children. But in the right wing media Regenrus
stuck to his conclusions, saying he was only following the data.
