A Little Friendly Advice
If you are a Proposition 8 supporter and you don’t like my attitude…I strongly suggest you don’t try to tell me about it here in the comments. This is my web site and I will endure a lot of things here but bile from gutter crawling bigots isn’t one of them.

But Bruce! What about that calm and respectful dialog between the two side of the isle?
You know, THEY can explain to us in polite and civil terms how we eat babies, destroy families, cause destruction of countries, eat poop, drink piss and kill our lovers while infecting everyone with AIDS. And maybe WE could explain to them how happy we will be to march into the camps, and into the ovens.
Of course none of them, or their 25 million bucks, bothered to even look at another side of the story, and issue. Yet they voted on it with great zeal anyway. So now that they’ve done this much damage to millions of other peoples lives, and secured a dangerous and miserable future for millions of people, I’m sure they’d like a chance to finally explain in "Civil and respectful" terms, exactly why and how the great Gay Marriage menace would affect their lives.
So you can’t surrender a little bit of real-estate on YOUR forum for their "civil and respectful" ideas? I mean, come ON Bruce! They got a lot of press-time in every other media source, and if they couldn’t get it covered by FOX for free, then they simply bought it out of that 25 million dollar war chest. So why are you trying to stifle their right to free speech? Give them equal time! GAWD (And magic talking Salamanders) knows that they need to stick their dicks in every possible media and blog on the net and free world. (The free world they would deny us) Why are you so mean towards them? It’s nothing personal, they are only doing GAWDS work, so don’t hold THEM personally responsible.
I REALLY welcome and look forward to the next time some Mormon missionaries come to my doorstep. I hope I have my video camera at easy reach.

If you want to get into it with the bigots, I recommend the Usenet newsgroup alt.politics.homosexuality. It’s an unmoderated alt group which means there is no censorship of any kind. People are free to speak their minds however they want, in whatever terms they like. What that means in practice, is there is no double-standard imposed on the talk, wherein calling gay people disease spreading nation destroying child molesters is considered a legitimate point of view while calling anyone who says that a bigot is out of bounds.
I did APH for almost a decade before eventually dropping out. The hate never stops and I got fatigued as a lot of folks in there eventually did. But it was worthwhile. I found out that the arguments never change, and behind every concerned citizen who has nothing against gays personally but is just opposed to the militant gay agenda there is a Fred Phelps just waiting to pop out if you can just get them to drop their mask of civility.
Which is why I don’t do civil and respectful. There is no such thing. There is only the appearance of civil and respectful.

I burned out on a lot of those usenet groups pretty quickly. The alt.jfk.assasination ones could be productive for a time. The moderated ones were OK for info and fairly reasonable debate, but the un-moderated ones always devolved into both sides (Nutters= Lone Nutters who believe Oswald acted alone, and Nons who believed that it was a conspiracy) just screaming ad hominem at each other. But as web forums evolved, I found those much better somehow.
Expecting rational, much less civil and respectful conversation with people who have such a blind-spot for reality, facts, and rational examination of the whole issue is always going to be impossible. Some of them can be quite slippery…..like jello nailed to a wall. Irrational people are incapable of rational discussion, much less civil and respectful. They do not see their behavior as being UN-civil or DISrespectful either in discussion or practice.
