I’ve been meaning to write about this… Last year some friends of mine went on an all-gay cruse on the Queen Mary II and had a wonderful time. Then they suggested I come with them on one of those all gay Caribbean cruses and I realized if I wanted to go along I needed a passport. Which got me to thinking again about how I’ve driven from one end of the U.S. to the other but never set foot abroad and it would be nice to see some of the world while I still can.
Well…the Caribbean cruse never happened, but my friends were talking about going somewhere south of the border so I applied for and got my first ever passport in the mail several weeks ago. Later this month we’re all going down to Puerto Vallarta, Mexico for a long weekend. It’s supposedly a gay friendly spot and we’re going to a gay owned bed and breakfast near the beach. It’ll be my first ever trip outside the U.S. Hopefully more will follow. I’m trying to learn a little tourist Spanish before I go. And…seriously…if I want to ever learn a second language, here in America Spanish is the logical one.
I’d really like to see Britain and Europe. I’d also really like to see just about anywhere in the southern hemisphere. Rio would be nice. But I have this thing somehow for Baia. New Zealand would work too. I want to look up after sunset, at the night sky, and see the other half of infinity I’ve never seen before.
