{"id":786,"date":"2007-06-07T15:01:01","date_gmt":"2007-06-07T20:01:01","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/brucegarrett.com\/brucelog\/786"},"modified":"2007-06-07T15:01:01","modified_gmt":"2007-06-07T20:01:01","slug":"perversion","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/brucegarrett.com\/brucelog\/786","title":{"rendered":"Perversion"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Over at This Modern World, <a href=\"http:\/\/thismodernworld.com\/3791\">Jonathan Schwarz takes a look<\/a>  from James Holsinger over to another corner of the open sewer that is the Bush administration, from whence the Project For A New American Century came from.&nbsp; Hold your nose, and hold on to your stomach&#8230;\n<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<div class=\"entry\">\n<p>As you may have already seen, Dr. James Holsinger, Bush&rsquo;s nominee for Surgeon General, is <a href=\"http:\/\/www.thenation.com\/blogs\/notion?bid=15\">very concerned<\/a> about gay men and their &ldquo;anal eroticism.&rdquo;&nbsp; Indeed, like most <a href=\"http:\/\/www.tinyrevolution.com\/mt\/archives\/001531.html\">extremely manly men<\/a>, he spends a lot of time thinking about this. I&rsquo;m guessing that, at least when he was younger, he thought about it four or five times a day.<\/p>\n<p>So everyone&rsquo;s getting a good laugh about this. But Bush &amp; co. work out their peculiar psycho-sexual obsessions in ways far more serious than this.<\/p>\n<p>Take <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Eliot_A._Cohen\">Eliot Cohen<\/a>, for instance. Cohen wrote the Air Force&rsquo;s study of the effects of air power during the Gulf War. Later he was a founding member of Project for a New American Century. And now he works for Condoleezza Rice in one of the State Department&rsquo;s most prominent positions.<\/p>\n<p>And this is what Eliot Cohen wrote about bombing other countries <a href=\"http:\/\/www.foreignaffairs.org\/19940101faessay8554\/eliot-a-cohen\/the-mystique-of-u-s-air-power.html\">in 1994<\/a>:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>Air power is an unusually seductive form of military strength, in part because, like modern courtship, it appears to offer gratification without commitment.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Ha ha ha! Yes, killing thousands of people with high explosives <em>is<\/em> sort of like sex out of wedlock!
