Because I liked you better\r\n  Than suits a man to say,\r\nIt irked you, and I promised\r\n  To throw the thought away.\r\n\r\nTo put the world between us\r\n  We parted, stiff and dry;\r\n'Good-bye,' said you, `forget me.'\r\n  'I will, no fear', said I.\r\n\r\nIf here, where clover whitens\r\n  The dead man's knoll, you pass,\r\nAnd no tall flower to meet you\r\n  Starts in the trefoiled grass,\r\n\r\nHalt by the headstone naming\r\n  The heart no longer stirred,\r\nAnd say the lad that loved you\r\n  Was one that kept his word.\r\n<\/pre>\n<\/blockquote>\n
