How the religious right talks out of both sides of its mouth&#8230;<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\">\n<p>But then again&#8230;if Exodus respects a person&#8217;s right to self determination, why do they oppose same sex marriage, and why do they <a href=\"http:\/\/www.exodus.to\/content\/view\/494\/37\/\">support a state&#8217;s right to enact sodomy laws<\/a>?  It&#8217;s simple: they don&#8217;t mean what they say.  It&#8217;s just rhetoric for popular consumption.  Self determination is anathama to the religious right&#8230;and not just with regard to the rights of gay people.  Heterosexuals could find themselves in an America where it is <a href=\"http:\/\/salon.com\/mwt\/feature\/2006\/03\/20\/anti_contraception\/index_np.html\">illegal to sell any and all forms of birth control, even to legally married heterosexual couples<\/a>.    You can tell everything you need to know about the religious right&#8217;s respect for a person&#8217;s right to self determination by the sexual abuse they&#8217;re perfectly willing to inflict on teenagers, who cannot legally say no.  When the rest of us loose our right to tell them No, they&#8217;ll do the same to us, never doubt it.  The ninth commandment after all, says not to bear false witness against your neighbor.
