{"id":2945,"date":"2009-01-27T18:41:21","date_gmt":"2009-01-27T23:41:21","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/brucegarrett.com\/brucelog\/?p=2945"},"modified":"2009-02-01T22:43:43","modified_gmt":"2009-02-02T03:43:43","slug":"boys-will-be-girls-and-girls-will-be-boys","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/brucegarrett.com\/brucelog\/2945","title":{"rendered":"Boys Will Be Girls And Girls Will Be Boys"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I hadn&#8217;t known this, but the other day on Fark.Com one of the headlines read that January is <a href=\"http:\/\/www.logoonline.com\/video\/franchise.jhtml?ctid=2182\">National Drag History Month<\/a>.&nbsp; As a gay man who tends to favor somewhat androgynous males, I have to admit that some of these performers just knock me out.&nbsp; That&#8217;s not to say I like it when guys dress up as girls, so much as when guys can be sexy and sultry and beautiful.&nbsp; There&#8217;s an art to this that I never really appreciated when I was younger, and stereotyped drag as an artifact of gay repression.&nbsp; You can certainly view it that way.&nbsp; But in a more liberated time, you can also view it as a kind of subversive gender-bending art that is beautiful and sexy for its own sake.<\/p>\n<p>Some drag performers don&#8217;t have it.&nbsp; They just look like guys wearing dresses.&nbsp; But some guys have got it going on.&nbsp; One commenter on Fark said that a boy in a dress is just a boy in a dress.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>No&#8230;&nbsp; Not at all&#8230;<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"400\" height=\"465\" alt=\" \" src=\"http:\/\/memweb.newsguy.com\/~bgarrett\/IMG_5931.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"352\" height=\"640\" alt=\" \" src=\"http:\/\/memweb.newsguy.com\/~bgarrett\/IMG_5933.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"341\" height=\"640\" alt=\" \" src=\"http:\/\/memweb.newsguy.com\/~bgarrett\/IMG_5935.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<p align=\"left\">&#8230;not at all. &nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p align=\"left\">So&#8230;&nbsp; Happy National Drag History Month Mrs Cuba&#8230;aka Deanna Lexington.&nbsp; Wish my friends down there hadn&#8217;t been such a bunch of jackass knuckle-dragging dickheads and let me have a chance to meet you last year.&nbsp; But if you happen to chance across this post&#8230;I have some more photos from that Academy of Washington D.C.
