\nBeating is probed as hate crime<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n
TRIBUNE – Greeley County authorities are investigating what they call an alleged hate crime that occurred early Sunday morning.<\/p>\n
Officers responded to reports of an intruder in a Tribune home. By the time they arrived, the intruder had left, but the teenager inside had been beaten, said Greeley County Sheriff Mark Rine.<\/p>\n
Dustin Myers, 16, of Horace, was arrested Sunday. Rine said Myers perceived the teen in the home to be gay. Myers is charged with aggravated burglary, aggravated assault and carrying a concealed explosive.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

He’d brought with him some sort of explosive device, and intended to kill the other teen. In the comments section over at Hutchinson news, people are rushing to the defense of Myers…<\/p>\n

Let it be said there also seems to be genuine worry about hate, but it’s being expressed in vague declarations that dance around the essential homophobic nature of the crime, along with a lot of calls for prayer.
