I pulled a bunch of stuff out from under the basement steps and began sorting through it a couple weeks ago, giving some to recycling, some to Goodwill, and some to the Greensburg Historical Society. I&#8217;m still going through it, and I&#8217;ll be distributing stuff around again and again over the coming weeks. But it left me with a lot of empty space&#8230;enough that today I was able to move stuff out of the storage room and close it. That&#8217;s a monthly rent off my back now.<\/p>\n<p>I told the lady at the storage place why I was downsizing and with a smile she told me to enjoy my retirement &#8220;this time.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>This is a process I expect to take several months&#8230;I&#8217;ll be able to work on it more energetically when I don&#8217;t have days at the office&#8230;but at the end of it I want the house to be a lot lighter in weight than it&#8217;s been.
