Since the death of TV News Anchor Peter Jennings, several gay health organizations have reported an increase in calls from gay people asking about programs to help them quit.

Smoking is a particular problem for gay youth, whom some studies say are 30 to fifty percent more likely to take up smoking then their heterosexual peers. This is almost certianly due to stresses in their lives caused by prejudice and hate. They need anti smoking campaigns that speak directly to them. But right wing politicians reliably veto any attempt to treat gay kids as anything but human garbage.
